Bees are great, and so is honey. It’s a natural, healthy and nutritious food in high demand across the world!
With a surprisingly low initial cost, flourishing communities is building an ambitious new bee farm on its land. The amazing thing about bees is they are out there anyway, living in the wild. All a beekeeper does is give them a new, optimised home that they get to live in, and in exchange for their bed and board, we get to keep some of the honey.
Once the bees have settled in, they don’t need feeding or much upkeep, and they perform miracles in the field each day, pollinating flowers and crops, before coming home and making more honey than they know what to do with.
So we take a bit of the honey and sell it, and hopefully raise enough money to pay for all the admin associated with keeping Flourishing Communities going. What a fabulous project!
What can my donation achieve?
£50: Buys one beehive.
- With only £50, you can buy a beehive which would cost £200 in the UK
- These beehives can yield 80 litres of honey at full capacity!
£80: Builds a wooden stand
- Your generous donation of £80 will fund the construction of a wooden beehive stand.
- It’s important to keep the hives off the ground, otherwise critters can steel the honey and destroy the hive!
- These are capable of keeping 10 hives off the ground.
£25: Upgrades a vertical Beehive
- Vertical Beehives like the one shown on the left can be upgraded.
- With a kind donation of £25, you can fund the upgrade of one hive to full capacity.
- This is capable of generating £960 annually!
£180: Builds a strong, metal stand
- Your generous donation of £180 will ensure that TEN hives are kept safe from critters for years to come!
- These stands can house twenty hives.
