About Us

We believe that everyone deserves a chance to  have a better life.

Who we are

Flourishing Communities Foundation is a registered non-profit governmental organization in Uganda, East Africa, supporting the most at-risk communities in Uganda. We work together with those communities to help reduce and fight hunger, malnutrition, disease, poverty and illiteracy.

We believe all under-served communities have potentials locked within that if unlocked can enable these communities to become self-sustaining and economically prosperous.

Our Story

In the founder’s words, “we started at Lusolo village in kassanda district Uganda, the rural community of the founder”

My village didn’t have a primary school. Very few people could read and write, A big percentage of our population is illiterate. We didn’t have any prospect for a better future, many children died before they experienced their 5th birthday due to malnutrition and lack of even basic health care.

My village is partly covered by a wetland and farming can only be done on the dry land, many people don’t have space to do farming and this has resulted into food insecurity at the village since those who can’t grow their own food could only survive by stealing from other people’s gardens.

During my studies in Kampala , the capital city of Uganda. We worked in the school gardens after our classes. We did this to pay for our school fees, but it helped me learn a lot of garden practices.

In 2019, I established a food garden on 3 and half acres. I invited people to work with me and we were able to grow food. We harvested the fruits of our labor and many families survived on the garden I began.

With support from my friends, we utilized the resources we had in the community to set up a learning center for children to promote education and make our village a happy place. We named our first garden the food basket and indeed it was.

Majority of the people in the local communities don’t have access to education, medication and healthy foods.

We created this Foundation to help the local communities discover the potentials within them and how they can utilize them to bring about a positive change.
